VISUALIZATION

This video is from my October 2021 high school piano recital where I played Notturno Op. 54 No. 4 by Grieg with an accompanying Max visualization and then did a demonstration of a second visualization while improvising over the G Blues.

VISUALIZATION 43 (CIRCLES)

(5 min)

This project uses a microphone to capture the dynamic volume of the Grieg selection and turns it into a feedback loop to generate the visual images.

VISUALIZATION 45 (RAINDROP)

(2 min 13 seconds)

At the beginning of this video, I explain to the audience what they have been looking at on the screen and then I improvise at the piano to demonstrate the differences between the two projects. In “Visualization 45 (Raindrop)” the code takes the velocity of live midi data from a digital keyboard and turns it into a water ripple effect.

A test where my code is looking at a white wall while I manually change the light of the room with a dimmer switch. The pitch and tempo of the piece react in real-time to the change in light.
