SPECTRUM
This project uses code to turn light data into music. It takes the average amount of light visible through the camera and turns that into midi data. (High levels of light create higher and faster notes). This project also utilizes samples I recorded.
SPECTRUM CODE EXPLANATION VIDEO
(4 min 14 seconds)
In this video, I talk about how I made the code and how it all works.
DAY TIME TEST VIDEO
(1 min 55 seconds)
A test where my code is looking at traffic during the day and the different color cars passing by are changing the pitch and tempo of the piece in real-time.
NIGHT TIME TEST VIDEO
(1 min 44 seconds)
A test where my code is looking at traffic during the night and the moving car lights change the pitch and tempo of the piece in real-time.
CONTROLLED TEST VIDEO
(46 seconds)
A test where my code is looking at a white wall while I manually change the light of the room with a dimmer switch. The pitch and tempo of the piece react in real-time to the change in light
CHERRY WOOD SAMPLES
(17 seconds)
A quick video of me playing the two cherry wood instruments I fabricated.
SAMPLES EXPLANATION
(1 min 21 seconds)
In this short video, I introduce the two cherry wood instruments I made and discuss how I used them to generate four samples I used in the Spectrum project.
